On the heels of the court decision in Texas, the governor is moving to keep this insurance coverage in place.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has announced that despite a recent court ruling in Texas, Michigan intends to maintain the requirement for preventive healthcare insurance coverage.

The governor has announced that insurers representing all fully insured state residents will continue the coverage.

The ruling that occurred in the Texas court was one that struck down an Affordable Care Act (ACA) provision. That provision had required health insurance companies to provide coverage for preventive care services without any deductibles or copays.

The decision was a controversial one and was met with strong criticism from preventive healthcare experts who state that preventative care is a critical part of a person’s health and well-being.

The Michigan governor has made it clear that her intention is to continue to make sure that Michigan residents will have access to these services and that they will be covered by their plans.

Governor Whitmer released an official announcement that the preventive healthcare coverage would continue.

The announcement was made in March and both patients and physicians have been supportive of the decision. The announcement explained that the governor had ordered all health insurers in Michigan who provide fully insured coverage to keep up their coverage for preventative services until the full resolution of the Texas court decision.

This type of care comprises a spectrum of services. These include everything from vaccinations to cancer screenings, and even routine checkups, among other services. The goal of these services is to identify any health problems early so that they can be treated before they become a larger and more complex problem that is more difficult and costly to treat, or that progresses beyond the point that it can be treated.

This type of service also provides physicians with the opportunity to encourage healthy lifestyle behaviors which can help to reduce the burden and cost associated with chronic disease, improving overall medical outcomes.

Physicians and patients in Michigan have come to benefit from coverage for preventive healthcare through their health insurance plans and have been supportive of the governor’s decision to maintain it.
